Existing vacuum gauges are characterized by a limited operation pressure range or a limited accuracy. However, increasingly complex manufacturing processes shift the process window for a large number of vacuum coating applications to lower pressures, where accurate diaphragm gauges are unable to operate and ionisation gauges only provide limited accuracy.
